DESIGNIT - May 2011

Keep ahead of the pack with designIT Series 5

The latest, up-to-the-minute version of designIT® software is now available for download. designIT series 5 is now an even more powerful tool for building practitioners. Upgrades include the new functionality incorporating a Reaction report for each member, providing designers with the flexibility to detail connections using Timber Framing Standards and proprietary connections and the Ability to design wall plates for both upper and lower storey load bearing walls. designIT Series 5 now has the ‘Special load cases’ functionality for the floor joist calculator. This allows designers to consider floor joists supporting concentrated loads from roofs and floors, parallel load bearing walls, etc. as well as hyJOIST trimming joists, and taking into account differential deflection.

designIT software was originally created for design with hySPAN® and hyJOIST® and later versions incorporate other selected materials for houses and similar structures, this has been improved to included both standard and selected cambered glue-lam beams. designIT Series 5 is still quick and simple to use yet deceptively powerful, designIT is useful for the selection of beam sizes without the need for engineering knowledge whilst also providing complex loaded bearer and joist calculators.

Carter Holt Harvey Woodproducts Australia (CHH) is leading the way in the engineered wood products industry with designIT and are committed to offering assistance where required through the technical support line – freecall 1800 808 131. This assistance also extends to a simple design service for those on-site needing product range and technical clarification.

Download designIT series 5 now. Then use the 'Check for Updates' feature contained in the Help Menu regularly to ensure you are always up-to-date with the latest version.
