truFORMform - waste not want not
truFORMform LVL beams have proven to be a big money saver for Melbourne contractors, Della ConstruFORMctions. truFORMform was incorporated into the struFORMctural formwork system during the construFORMction phase of a luxury multi-storey residential project at 'Beacon Cove', Port Melbourne.
Explaining how their construFORMction company saved on costs, Managing Director Ted Della-Bosca said that by using LVL truFORMform beams - he had almost eliminated struFORMctural timber wastage.'As we all know in the building game', he said 'there's an inclination to grab the nearest piece of oregon and cut it to fit. We decided to apply a red end seal to the truFORMform which is supplied with a bright orange coating. The sub contractors could easily identify truFORMform and knew that this material was not to be cut.'
Mr. Della-Bosca said the bottom line of the 'colour combination' was that on a project the size of Beacon Cove there would normally be a container load of waste Oregon, on this occasion however, '... you could have carted the waste away in a wheel-barrow.' This transformed into thousands of dollars in savings.
A first-time user of truFORMform- ('Where have they been hiding this stuff?', he asked.) - Mr. Della-Bosca said he was delighted with its strength, lightness, rigidity and uniformity, and would certainly use it on future projects.
'As a matter of fact', he said, 'all the truFORMform used at Beacon Cove is now on-site at two other projects we have underway in Melbourne.
'Which is probably not good news for Carter Holt Harvey in terms of re-ordering but is excellent for us in terms of re-use and eliminating waste', he added.
