Flooring R-Values Calculator

Thank you for your interest in Carter Holt Harvey’s particleboard and plywood flooring. This calculator helps you calculate the total R-Value of the flooring system for your specific project as well as compliance checking against the thermal comfort energy and efficiency regulatory requirements for Class 1 dwellings (detached houses, villas, townhouses etc).
The Flooring R-values Calculator allows you to change key variables to increase or decrease total system R-values to assist in specifying and building the most cost effective and easy-to-install floor system. It includes our standard Yellow, Red, Blue Tongue® and PLYFlor® products, as well as R-Flor® – a specific product that has been developed to meet the demanding requirements for thermal comfort and energy efficiency across Australia, particularly in cooler winter regions.

The total R-value requirements for floors for most states and territories are contained in the Building Code of Australia (BCA) or the BASIX system in NSW. Compliance checking within the R-value Calculator is against the current requirements in the BCA and the NSW BASIX system. Please note that the current requirements for some states are actually contained in BCA 2009 in some states and territories and in BCA 2010 in other states and territories.

For projects in TAS, WA, VIC and NT the requirements in BCA 2009 apply until May 2011.
For projects in ACT and QLD (and SA from September 2010) the requirements in BCA 2010 apply.
For projects in NSW the requirements in BASIX apply.
